How to Write a Compelling 'About Us' Page That Converts

The About page has one job: convince a skeptical visitor that your company is genuine, capable, and worth trusting with their problem. This is not accomplished by listing accolades and accomplishments. It's accomplished by communicating that you understand the visitor's situation deeply, that you have relevant experience, and that there are real humans behind the business who care about the outcome.

The opening sentence of your About page is its most important line. Most About pages open with the company's founding date, location, or general category — information the visitor doesn't care about. The opening that converts begins with the visitor's situation: 'Most [your target audience] struggle with [specific problem]. We built [company name] because we struggled with it too.'

The founder story section should be honest about the journey — including the problems and failures that made you qualified to solve the customer's problem. A story that's too polished and successful ('we had an idea, executed it perfectly, and became a leader in our field') reads as marketing copy. A story that includes real challenges, pivots, and hard lessons reads as authentic experience.

Social proof integrated naturally throughout the About page — specific metrics, recognizable client names or logos, media mentions, and team credentials — provides the evidence that supports your claims. The About page that shows rather than tells converts visitors into inquiries at significantly higher rates.

SmartBrandly generates your About page copy — founder story narrative, company origin, team bios, and brand statement — all in your authentic brand voice. Write your About page at https://smartbrandly.smartbrandly.workers.dev
